getting out of debt
Alex C asked:

I owe $80k+ in taxes and simply cannot afford to pay the IRS anything. I make very little at the moment and I owe the taxes on money I have never seen. I worked for a company who had Me put things in my name for awhile. They had me take out large sums of money for them as cash. I now know they used me as a shell company but the paper trail marks me as the debt holder. I was paid a very small sum of money to do this on top of my wages for the company. Being new to business and having no knowledge I thought it was a great deal. Now I am just screwed. Any suggestions?
If I decided to just do the time how would I go about doing that and how long would I have to serve?

getting out of debt

My husband filed our taxes online last year, and forgot my w-2. The IRS just sent me a notice saying I owe around 2500. I would be getting a refund of 5200. Can I get out of part -or all!-of this debt? I believe it was an error on his part, him having never filed taxes before (I usually do it, but was dealing with a brand new baby, colic, and post-partum depression)….
