I want to get out of my credit card debt. I know I need to cut up the cards and tell them “bye”, but can I get a personal loan at the bank and consolidate them with a better interest rate?

I want to get out of credit card debt. I’m in college, but am working. I have several cards that are at their limits, and have used most of my savings trying to pay the interest each month. I probably have a total of $5000 in debt, and while I make around $8000-10000 a year, I do have other expenses to pay. What are my options?

I am 24 years old and I am approx $25k in debt. I have a reprosession on my record and several charge-off’s. Most of this was done when I was 18 and 19 years old, but some are about a year or two old. I also owe a bank, so I can not get a bank account in my own name.
I just got married in August, and I have yet to run my husband’s credit to see how it is, but his ex wife did mess up his credit the last time he was deployed to Iraq (she baught a truck and never paid for it, it was reposessed before he even got home and didn’t know about it tell after). I think if I add the debt I know about of his that would put the both of us into about $35,000 into debt. We don’t have any real monthly expenses, and I pay cards off. I am just lost and don’t know what to do. Is there a way to get a list of every collection agency in the US so I can call or fax to see if they have anything for my name. I really don’t want to file bankrupcy. I can’t work as daycare would be more then what I would make.
What is a GOOD credit report agency online. I don’t want to waste money on something stupid. I want the best of the best.
Also what is a GOOD credit consolidation agency?
Would you recomend taking out a debt consolidation loan to pay everything, then just paying that back, this way instead of interest on 50+ things I only pay interest on one thing. Our credit scores are about 518 (mine) and he says about 590ish for his, but I woudln’t know because I have not ran it, and he has not run his in over a year.
