getting out of debt

My husband and I have never been good with money. I am 30 now and have filed bankruptcy twice a chapter7 and chapter13. The chapter 13 was dismissed because we couldn’t afford the payment…so I am heading towards another chapter 7. Most of our bills are medical, due to a daughter with hearing loss, and getting laid off and having no insurance. I am in the Army and want to get out, but I am not sure if I can afford it. We can’t get anyone to give us a consolidation loan because we don’t own anything. I hear alot about credit card debt, but we probably have maybe 4000 in credit card debt. The rest is medical and vehicles, but we are about 35,000 in debt. Our credit is shot. I want to get out so I can be home with my family and not in Iraq. I also want to be able to buy a house before I die and gosh not be rich but just able to maintain. Having to file yet another bankruptcy is just killing me but I feel that I have no other choice. HELP!!

I need to give the gym my new card number so that I can pay my dues.I called to leave a message for the buisness manager at the gym.The person who took the message, could transfer me to the person’s voice mail.I’m not sure that I’ll be able to get over to the gym tomarrow after work, before the person leaves for the day,and with my new card(if it gets there tomarrow). The reason why I have to make payment arrangments is to pay off a debt with the bank.I can go to the bank during my lunch nad take care of that, but i’m not sure about the gym.Any suggestions?

I had a rough time a few years ago, and stopped paying my credit cards and cell phone to be able to keep paying the rent and then i lost my job, it was all sent to debt collectors. I’m ready to get this taken care of so I can rebuild my credit somehow, but I don’t know which companies hold the debts. How do I find out? I haven’t heard from any of them in almost a year.

Money is always a big issue with him and bill collectors are always calling his cell phone. He told me he is in debt 12,000 but, I have a feeling it is a lot more than that. I talk to him and tell him how to get “money smart” but he avoids the subject.

I was wondering if there is anyway to figure out how far he really is in debt?

The reason I am curious is because I do not want his debt to turn into my problem in the future.

When My husband lost his job, we got into major debt with our bank. They took away our overdraft priveleges, but still pay up to $300 in overdrafts. We bounced checks left and right and once we tried to stop our bills got really late. He fianlly has a job but we can’t seem to catch up. My entire paycheck goes to bank charges every week. Is it a good idea to stop my direct deposit and pay my bank off gradually that way I still have money to pay my bills? His check pays our babysitter and a few bills and when we were desperate we took out a payday loan too. Any advice?

It’s been years and finally we are not carrying debt. I know the next step is to learn how to budget better and save for big things like a house. Right now, our credit is good, we use one credit card which is paid every month, but my husband and I seem to charge a lot. This is money I know we could use to save for a house. I’d say most of the time we buy stuff we really don’t need. How do we learn how to cut the fat out of our lives and save for the things we really do want? How can I get my husband on the same page? Thanks.

I owe $80k+ in taxes and simply cannot afford to pay the IRS anything. I make very little at the moment and I owe the taxes on money I have never seen. I worked for a company who had Me put things in my name for awhile. They had me take out large sums of money for them as cash. I now know they used me as a shell company but the paper trail marks me as the debt holder. I was paid a very small sum of money to do this on top of my wages for the company. Being new to business and having no knowledge I thought it was a great deal. Now I am just screwed. Any suggestions?
If I decided to just do the time how would I go about doing that and how long would I have to serve?

Why should my tax dollars go to bail AIG on these other companies out? In that case, shouldn’t the government allow me to use the taxes I paid over the years to bail myself out of debt? Why are we helping the rich get off?
