After spending 4 years at a school like that, how do you cut down debt? How do you even live, since you are considered financially independent… How much debt do you accumulate and how long does it take to pay off?

We spend approx. $3,500 per household on anti-poverty programs and around $2,000 per household on paying off the debt. If each household pays the full $5,500 towards paying off our debt this country will be out of debt by 2012. The byproduct of this solution will be that anyone relying on these programs now will learn to survive on there own like the rest of us and become productive members of society. This money has nothing to do with people with disabilities who are unable to provide for themselves. Which candidate is the most likely to raise the amount of money for anti-poverty programs? Heres a hint, the total amount of hikes between 1992 to 2000 were higher than the total amount between 1980-1991 plus 2001 to present…get the picture

I need help getting out of debt. We owe at LEAST $10 - $15,000 in credit cards (combined between my husband & myself). It is at the point where we are late paying them, have creditors calling, our credit is shot, we havent been able to afford to buy groceries in months to feed our children let alone ourselves, we are barely making the rent & car pymt. We dont own anything or have anything to offer as collateral and have no one who can co sign to help us. Anyone have any suggestions before we end up up living in a card board box with our 2 kids???

it’s like reaching a pinnacle or mountain top or even winning a Grammy. at at that point, you are at the top. so the question is, what does that open the door to and where should a person that achieves such a milestone and groundbreaking achievement divert their focus to or put a lot of energy of their focus on?

My husband filed our taxes online last year, and forgot my w-2. The IRS just sent me a notice saying I owe around 2500. I would be getting a refund of 5200. Can I get out of part -or all!-of this debt? I believe it was an error on his part, him having never filed taxes before (I usually do it, but was dealing with a brand new baby, colic, and post-partum depression)….

I have a $2500 debt with Capital One. I got in financial trouble in college and I was not able to pay it off in time. My debt has bounced around to several different law firms and the new one is trying to make me pay 400 a month until I pay it off. If I don’t they said I would be served. Is this threat real and how often do they come after people this hard. I basically have nothing they could put a lien on as I am still in huge financial trouble.

I am 21 and have accumulated some debt…not including my school loans it’s about 5,000. I have had some issues with jobs in the last 6 months, but have now resolved that issue and have even taken on a second job making my grand total of hours to about 70. What else can I do??
Also, what are some tips on how to negotiate with collectors? I have one bill in collections, and need to either settle or get a payment plan started.

I need a thousand dollars to pay off some payday loans (that I should not have gotten). Does anyone have any ideas how I can get this fast? I want to work and pay it off but I don’t want to file bankruptcy and I feel that may be my only option.
