getting out of debt
stinkaferd asked:

i have about $5000 worth of credit card debt built up from college that i want to pay off quickly. the interest rates are killing me and i find it harder and harder to pay them, even the min. payment. of course this has had a negitive effect on my credit score so i’m finding it difficult to get a personal loan to pay them off. Any suggestions on how to get a handle on this debt? how about any place that will give you a loan with a low credit score?

Right now, I have two main credit cards. One has a 7500 credit limit and the other has a 6000 credit limit. The balances on these are 7800 and 6700 respectfully. They are way over the limit and I want to get them down quickly. Should I put all my efforts into one of them or split it up between the both of them? Also, both interest rates are about the same.

We do not have credit cards (we both got rid of them years ago, and we would not qualify for new ones if we wanted them anyway). We have a baby on the way and want to be on our way out of debt (we have realistic expectations and do not expect this will be happening tomorrow or even relatively soon). Is bankruptcy a good option to look at?

I’ve heard there are little known methods of getting out of debt faster, even without paying the full debt, what are some of these methods, do they work, and how will they affect my credit? I have credit card dept as well as an autoloan.

Any tips, suggestions, ideas to help pay off credit card debt in which so many Americans get themselves in.

I have a debt of about just $1300 which was about $2000 in the summer, I’m currently working and paying more than the minimum. Is it better just to pay the minimum, set the aside money each month then pay off the whole thing?

Are there any ways to build my credit score up after getting out of debt? I do NOT have credit cards or anything like that. I’ve NEVER filed bankruptcy, either. But I DID have credit cards and maxed them out (and beyond) to cover medical bills. Now, I’m paying them off and ALMOST totally debt free, but what can I do to get my score UP?

I want to start getting out of debt so we can afford some stuff for ourselves. I feel like I need to pay these debts off and then think about what we need in our home. I mean we have food and clothes and all but, just the things that needs replacements like furniture. How do I go about getting out of debt quick but not paying everything at once? I really don’t want to deal with a debt counselor.
